Beam N Read EXTRA BOLD, Large Print Keyboard Stickers, 4 High Contrast Color Combinations for PC & MacFrom the makers of Beam N Read Lights, our KBV 109 Keyboard Stickers were designed by one of our founders when he began having trouble seeing his keyboard. Drawing on his past experience as a printing industry executive, he designed the stickers with large, extra bold san serif fonts. Understanding different vision needs, the stickers have four specially selected high contrast color combinations each on a separate sheet: Bold White letters on Black background, Bold Yellow letters on Black background, Bold Black letters on White background, and Bold Black letters on Yellow background. With 109 stickers on each sheet, they include stickers for both PCs and Macintosh and work with desktop, notebook, laptop, and netbook keyboards. In addition to seniors and those who need vision aids, they are great for very young children just starting to use a keyboard who will often benefit from larger type than found on most keyboards. They are used to extend the life of worn out keyboards in schools, libraries, and other places with high use keyboards where the original letters are wearing off. The Beam N Read family of products also includes Beam n Read Hands Free Lights, and Notebook Computer Lights. Search 'Beam N Read' in the Amazon search box for 'All Departments' to find these products.

Office 2008 for Macintosh: The Missing Manual gives you the friendly, thorough introduction you need, whether you're a beginner who can't do more than point and click, or a power user who's ready to tackle a few advanced techniques.

Why Should I Upgrade to Office 2008 for Macintosh?
Author
Jim Elferdink talks about whatâs new in Office 2008 for Macintosh. If youâre still using Office 2004, youâll find some great reasons to upgrade. Jim also fills you in on some cool features that Office for Windows canât match, and why you may not need to invest in iWork!
What are the best new features that will make folks want to upgrade to Office 2008? Publishing Layout view. If you use Word to create formatted documents like letters and brochures, youâll find it so much easier to do now in the new Publishing Layout view than in the old Page Layout view. Publishing Layout view is actually quite similar to Pages; both are very usable. Itâs a huge boon for Word peopleâif you havenât bought Pages, now you wonât have to!
MyDay. I really enjoy Entourageâs MyDay feature. Assuming youâre not working on a laptop that doesnât have screen space to spare, I recommend keeping MyDay open in the corner of your screen. Thatâs what I do! It helps me keep track of my appointments and schedule. If youâve got appointments every 20 minutes or just a lot going on in your day, itâs great to have it all at a glance. It also helps you remember to go pick up the kids. (And you can feel superior to your Windows friends. Thereâs nothing resembling MyDay in Office for Windows.) Project Center. Entourageâs Project Center has been streamlined and beautified for 2008, but itâs still very underutilized. It takes a little extra effort to learn, but once youâve got it up and running, if youâre doing any kind of a project that involves Office documents or even files from other programs, itâs a great timesaver. It lets you keep shortcuts to all these documents, plus email related to the project, in one window. The Project Center makes it easy to categorize email, contacts, notes, and documents. Things donât get lost, and you donât have to worry about Mac OS X labels and other ways to categorize things. (Office for Windows also has nothing like the Project Center.)
Formula Builder. In Excel, one of the greatest new features is the formula builder. If you use Excel much for formulas at all, especially more complicated ones, itâs really a timesaver. It helps you get those things created and working much faster than you could do before.
Elements Gallery. The Elements Gallery concept is really great because it carries over from one program to the other, gives the programs a consistent feel. If youâre using a lot of templates or AutoShapes, youâll find it a quick way to get at all that stuff. You could do all these things before, but it was a lot harder to find what you were looking for.
So, are there any disadvantages to upgrading to Office 2008? Publishing Layout view can be frustratingly slow on G4 Macs, especially when youâre trying to move layout elements around onscreen. I would only use it on an Intel Mac. The same caveat holds true for PowerPoint; itâs hard to move things around. But the rest of the suite works great on faster G4 machines. Office 2008 uses the same new, XML-based file format as Office 2007 for Windows. Itâs great not to have to worry when someone with Office 2007 on a PC sends you something. Office 2008 can open those documents right up. But now when you send documents to Mac folks who havenât upgraded, they wonât be able to open them! Once you upgrade to Office 2008, youâve got to be aware that not everyone else has, and (unless you have a real need to use the XML format) set your Save options (in Preferences) to the older format so there wonât be problems with your attachments. Then thereâs the macro problem. Any macros you wrote in earlier versions of Office use the Visual Basic programming language (VBA), and they wonât work in Office 2008! If youâve written a lot of macros for yourself, youâll have to stick with Office 2004 until you have time to rewrite them in AppleScript.
What do you like best about "Office 2008 for Macintosh: The Missing Manual?" Iâm happy with the way this book turned out. I think it covers everything you need to use this really powerful suite of programs for all your work. One chapter Iâm particularly fond of, and which I think is missing from every other PowerPoint book Iâve looked at, is Chapter 15âPlanning Great Presentations. It helps you prepare for your presentation and shows you how to use PowerPoint for its true purpose. PowerPoint isnât doing the presentationâyou are. Youâre the star of the show! Unfortunately, too many people think itâs the other way around.
iPhoto '11: The Missing Manual (Missing Manuals) (English and English Edition)With better ways to get your photos online and new options for creating printed projects, iPhoto '11 makes it easier than ever to transfer photos from a digital camera, organize them, and publish, print, or share them in mapsâbut there's still no printed manual for the program. Fortunately, David Pogue and Lesa Snider team up in this witty, authoritative book that should have been in the box.
Organize your collection. Discover all of the options for grouping your picturesâby events, in albums, or based on whoâs in the photo or where it was taken.
Sharpen your editing skills. Learn how to use iPhotoâs beefed-up editing options, including its Photoshop-like adjustments panel.
Share images online. Get your photos to everyone on your list by publishing them to Flickr, Facebook, and MobileMe.
Dive into creative projects. Have fun building slideshows (with music), gift books, calendars, and cards.
5 Tips from the Author Flags are a great way to mark photos for deletion en masse (instead of deleting them one at a time). As soon as you import photos, take a spin through âem and, when you find one you want to delete, click to select its thumbnail and then press Command - . (thatâs the Command key plus the period key) to flag it. Alternatively, hover your cursor over photoâs thumbnail and then click the tiny gray flag that appears in its top right (it looks like a miniature pennant). Either way, youâll see a tiny orange pennant appear at the thumbnailâs top left. Once youâre finished, click Flagged in your Source list, choose Select All to highlight all the flagged thumbnails, and then press the Delete key. When iPhoto asks if youâre sure you want to delete those photos, click OK and poof! iPhoto moves all those photos into its very own trash.
Need to split an Event into two? Open the Event and click the thumbnail you want to mark the start of the new Event, and then press the S key. Itâs as simple as that!
Want to see the month and year your photos were taken as youâre scrolling through thumbnails in either Events or Photos view? Youâre in luck! Choose iPhoto Preferences and turn on âShow informational overlays.â Now, next time you scroll through thumbnails, youâll see the month and year appear in the middle of the viewing area. Sweet!
Cruising around in Photos view can be a little overwhelming, especially when all of the Event names are expanded so you see thousands of thumbnails. The fix is to collapse all the Events en masse by Option-clicking the flippy triangle to the left of the Eventâs name in the main photo-viewing area. That way you can expand them one at a time as you wish. (Option- clicking a collapsed flippy triangle will expand them all, too.)
Smart Albums and Faces tags are the perfect way to quickly put together a slideshow for your next party. For example, if youâve tagged friends and family using Faces, you can create a Smart Album by simply dragging someoneâs picture from the Faces corkboard into an empty area in your Source list. If you want to add another person to that Smart Album, simply drag his image into the same Smart Album to create a self-populating album of just those two people.

6 Reasons to Move to Office 2011 for Mac Gather a bunch of Mac fans around a water cooler and ask what they want most from Microsoft Office. Two requests soon bubble to the surface: make Office more Mac-like, and give it the same features as the Windows version. Office 2011 for Mac doesnât completely fulfill both of these (albeit conflicting) desires, but it comes closer than ever. Office 2011 for Mac: The Missing Manual reveals features new and old to make you more productive than ever. Hereâs a short list of reasons you may want to move up to the latest, greatest version of Office.
1. A More Mac-like Office While it still looks like Microsoft, Office 2011 makes great use of the Mac OS X tools you know and love -- Spotlight search, Color Pickers, Mac OS X Help tools, and Finder file windows. You wonât have to relearn standard routines just to be compatible with Windows coworkers.
2. The Ribbon The most visible change in Office 2011 for the Mac is the ribbon. Yes, the ribbon is similar to the toolbars that Office has had forever, but itâs easier to use because the layout is more consistent. Common commands are grouped logically under tabs. Need more room for your document? Just click the current tab, and the ribbon collapses until you need it again. If you prefer the old ways, Office 2011 for Mac: The Missing Manual explains how to hide the ribbon entirely and create custom toolbars.
3. Out with Entourage, In with Outlook Entourage, which has been part of Office since 2001, was a fabulous email, calendar, and information management program, but it was never designed to work with the corporate powerhouse Outlook. In Office 2011, Mac fans finally get to join the Outlook nation and coordinate meetings, mailing lists, and tasks with their Windows counterparts. In Office 2011 for Mac: The Missing Manual, youâll learn how to customize Outlook to match your work style.
4. The Return of Visual Basic Many Mac fans were disappointed when Visual Basic disappeared in Office 2008. Microsoft got the message, and brought back Visual Basic in all its glory. You can once again use Microsoftâs scripting language to automate and customize Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
5. Broadcast Your PowerPoint Presentation Want to show your presentation to an audience thatâs scattered around the globe? Rather than having everyone burn jet fuel to meet at a Holiday Inn, you can broadcast your presentation over the Internet. Upload your slides to a Microsoftâs free server, and then invite your audience via instant messages or email. You control the presentation, so your audience only sees slides as you click to show them. For sound, you can synchronize the presentation with a conference call.
6. Excel Sparklines Excel 2011 now includes sparklines -- âsmall, intense, simple datawords,â as described by statistician Edward Tufte. While full-blown charts are great for comparing the values of different elements, sparklines are better for tracking the changes in a single element. Sparklines fit in a single cell yet express data relationships. For example, a sparkline might tell a doctor how a patientâs glucose level or respiration changes each day. For a meteorologist, a sparkline might express daily changes in temperature or barometric pressure.
